General Practice
Dr. Katy Franz has been interested in veterinary medicine since she was six years old when she first took her beagle puppy to the veterinarian. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon while working as a veterinary technician. After graduating she worked with a feline practitioner focusing on shelter medicine in Sherwood, an emergency and general clinic at Newberg Veterinary Hospital, and a small animal general practice in Sisters before going back to school for her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Corvallis, Oregon. She is excited to bring her high standards and personal touch to the Irvington neighborhood of Portland.

Dentistry
Pet dental disease is an extremely common issue. In addition to bad breath, it can cause other issues including red and inflamed gums, pain while chewing, and loose or missing teeth. To keep your pets teeth and mouth healthy we recommend annual dental cleanings. Dental cleanings are done under anesthesia and include a full examination of the mouth, teeth, and jaw as well as x-rays if needed. After the x-rays and cleaning are complete we polish your pet’s teeth to help slow future tartar buildup. We can also prescribe specialized chews and rinses to aid in plaque control.
